Eiffel Tower - Night
Many thanks to my friend Barb for this image of the Eiffel Tower . . . she has a good eye.
The Eiffel Tower was built by Gustave Eiffel for the 1889 Exposition Universelle, which was to celebrate the 100th year anniversary of the French Revolution. Its construction period: 2 years, 2 months and 5 days was considered quite the technical and architectural achievement.
Three lifts (North, East, and West pillars ) will take you up to the 1st and 2nd floors but if you want to go to the top (900 feet), you need to change lifts at the 2nd floor. To put this height in perspective, it's roughly equivalent to the Chrysler Building in NYC (Empire State Building is 1,250 feet . . . the John Hancock Center in Chicago is 1,128 feet).
